Dicrossus gladicauda is one of the species featured in the Freshwater Natural Aquarium Documentary.

Dicrossus gladicauda are commonly called the Chessboard cichlids. It is a cichlid which was described a short while ago, its relatively new to science. They differ from Dicrossus filamentosus and Dicrossus maculatus by having only one filament in the upper lobe of the caudal fin.
